More than 300 members of the dreaded Islamist group, Boko Haram have been reportedly killed today in a fierce battle with the Nigerian troops for control of Bazza and Michika town in Adamawa state, according to Sahara reporters.


 a source told Premium times that the troops were attacked by the sect as they headed towards Gulak town following a naij.com phenomenal success they made in ensu than 300 members of the dreaded Islamist group, Boko Haram have been reportedly killed today in a fierce battle with the Nigerian troops for control of Bazza and Michika town in Adamawa state, according to Sahara reporters. The  battle which is reportedly ongoing according to Sahara reporters has, however left at least 70 soldiers feared killed.

Meanwhile a soldier who escaped the fierce battle told Sahara reporters that the Boko Haram sect armed with sophisticated weapons used three helicopters to reinforce their ground attacks against Nigerian troops.

However the Nigerian troops ready for war reportedly fought back and were able to stop the militants from capturing Vimtim but were said to have lost at least eight brand new Armored Personnel Carriers in the battle, according to the source. Meanwhile a source told Premium times that the troops were attacked by the sect as they headed towards Gulak town following a phenomenal success they made in ensuring they take over the town from the sect and have full control saying:

“The Nigerian troops have gained an upper hand in the ongoing war to rout the insurgents out of Michika town which has been under the grip of the insurgents for close to a month.”

“There is heavy fighting between the insurgents and Nigerian troops as the insurgents are doing everything to frustrate the effort of the Nigerian troops and many people who are trapped in the towns are now sneaking out following intensified fighting,” according to Premium times source.

“The gallant Nigerians soldiers were attacked from the back by the militants but the military men engaged them in a fierce battle for over five hours back.”

Vimtim is the hometown of Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh.

The Nigerian troops have continued to engage the dreaded Boko Haram sect in a recent times in a fight to put an end to terrorism in the country.
